Take two thick slices of Noonie's day old bread, smear Honey Cup honey mustard
liberally over both. Cover both slices with green leaf lettuce. Then on one slice only lay smoked turkey on the lettuce,
a tomato slice on the turkey and sprinkle it with shredded carrot. Then on the lay a slice of provolone cheese over the
carrot then a green pepper ring on top of the cheese. Sprikle with sprouts. Cover with the other slice, lettuce side down.
The letuce should be stuck to the bread with honey mustard so it doesn't fall off when you turn it upside down to cover the
sandwich. Slice sandwich in half with a knife. Wrap in tightly in plastic wrap. Use too much wrap. Tape on label. Tadaaa!
Weighs one pound. Costs Four Bucks.

Fourth Mayoral Debate, Part Two
Monday, March 06, 2006
Next question: If the sales tax doesn’t pass, where would you cut?
Ploof: I’m against the tax. I’ll find the money in the budget. I’ll take a 40K pay cut. The people said no to the tax last time and they should again.
Kiss: Seventy-three Vermont towns have authorized a local option sales tax. Williston and Manchester have implemented it. It would bring in 2.3M split 70/30 between city and state respectively. It’s an alternative to the property tax. Replacing Clavelle means a fresh set of eyes to find efficiency solutions in city hall. I will balance the budget by July...
Yeah, Kiss is my choice, too. He doesn't pretend to know all the answers but trusts us to help find the answers. I'm hoping his late entry won't be a problem. Boy, it seems like he has some momentum. If he wins it will be a testament to substance over money for one thing.
Haik - I was enjoying all those mental contortions you were doing to justify voting for Hinda! Since she gets less likable as we get to know her more, you should have some good blog material in the next three years. As for me, I'm voting for Kevin Curley.
I hope you remain a BP reader for the next three years, too. I'm the new Peter Freyne, man. Dig it.
That's funny. "Freyne Man." As in "Tarrant's blog is definitely fake...definitely fake...it's time for Whopner...defintely time for Whopner..." Get it?
Heard a clever way to rank if people are undecided ranking from top down: rank instead from bottom up. So for the fifth place on this ballot, rank the person you hate most. Like Louie "Education ruins our children" Cowman.
Anyway, Bob Kiss is my number one too. The guy is solid. Curley gets number two which scares me only slightly less than Miller (his angry rants seem uncharacteristically muted during the campaign). I'm with you on the reasons for Miller shuffled lower in the ranks.
I'm writing in Tarrant for Mayor, but not as my first choice. I intend to vote for him as number 6. I know that he doesn't live in Burlington, but that doesn't matter. I'm sure he owns a lot of property in Burlington.
Tarrant will make out like a bandit (again) if property taxes are lowered. That's why he wants to put a roof on our property taxes. He wins big time.
Haik -- you are being unfair to Hinda...if you read the whole Baruth interview you will see that within about 30 seconds of the section you quoted Miller clarifies what she means by infrastructure ("even if you have park plans you have to have infrastructure") and she goes back later in the interview to say state clearly, "So please don’t think that I’m developing the North 40; I’m not developing the North 40."
A bit sloppy perhaps, but give her a break -- it was something like an hour long interview with every word and hiss of the expresso machine recoreded (everyone should read it all by the way -- it is hard not to like Hinda if you do)...
To say that she was "dishonest" in her response to Ploof in the debate because of this interview goes WAY, WAY over the top -- You should issue a retraction.
Ok. I went back and read the whole interview like you said. It seemed like she was saying she'd like to develop the North 40.
She does say at the end of the piece "I'm not devoloping the North 40" but I assume she means she'll have construction workers do it for her.
Just Kidding.
I mean look- when somebody says 'this isn't about money,'it's about money. And when Hinda sits at Border's and salivates over buiding on that land, then adds later that she won't, it means she will. When someone shows you who they are, you should believe them.
Either she's not being honest, or she really hasn't sorted it out for herself yet. Either way, I'm not comfortable handing my city to this person.
Throughout the campaign she has promised to learn more from advisors (e.g. science advisor, John Ewing) and do xyz in "the first 100 days."
"100" days is a nice sounding, psychologically pleasing base-ten number, but that doesn't negate the fact it's arbitrary. She would only be winning about 1000 days anyway. What if the learning curve isn't surmountable for her in 100 days?
Why should the city pay for her to get up to speed, when Bob Kiss really is ready now?
I did find one important quote from Hinda, which is germain to the issue of civility after tomorrow passes. Especially is she takes it and/or I keep doing this blog.
"So it’s all about relationships. And it’s all about — it’s so human! - not taking things personally, assume good intentions. I always assume good intentions."
I am actually glad I am not a resident of Burlington, because I would be forced to vote for one of the mayoral candidates. In covering the debates, and the days leading up to today's election, none of the candidates has grabbed me. Hinda's credibility has gone downhill, Kiss doesn't have much of a presence about him, and I refuse to vote for a Republican. Normally a candidate will at least pull me in their direction, but not in this case.
Haik, if you are around today, you will see me and my Hyundai covering the election all day. Hmmmmmmmmmm, I may have to sleep in the office tonight.
